Musical notation for beginners

Notation is a way of writing music down so someone else can play it, even when you are not in the room.

You do not need to read music to enjoy Glow Keys. The light-up lessons already show the next key. Reading is the extra skill that lets you open a book of tunes and know what they mean.

Three ideas cover the beginning:

  • How high or low the note is. That is its place on the staff.
  • How long to hold it. That is the shape of the note.
